Thursday, November 1, 1906Easy day. Got a nice letter from home today. Fixed a clock in the evening. Cold & clear tonight. Bed 10.
Friday, November 2, 1906
My new job is all OK I get a variety. Walked down with a German & also home with him. Talked some. Pay night. Got 7. Went to the A.I.E.E. a good lecture on Gas Turbines.
Saturday, November 3, 1906
Worked in the A.M. only in the P.M. well and I had some fun out to the barn pitching quarts etc. Took a bath and went to the Vodevil at the Mohawk. It was good. Home at 11:15. Bed 11:30.
Sunday, November 4, 1906
Up at 10:30. Dinner at 1:30. Wrote to Eva and mother also sent in my application for the list. Then went to look up Harry Buckley. He was not at home but up to Yager�s on Paige St. Found John Francis and his wife. Had a good time a fine time. We are going to sing etc. Went to church at the Albany St. Methodist. Home at 10.

Today I ran the measure box all day and got along all right. Went to night school. Bed 10:30.
Tuesday, November 6, 1906
Ran the box today. We worked until 1 and then had the rest of the day off as it was election day. Got a bundle of magazines from home. Wound on a wire spark coil in the P.M. Went to night school as usual in the evening. Home & bed at 10.
Wednesday, November 7, 1906
Had a headache all day. Hughes was elected Governor yesterday I guess. Got a dandy 14 page letter from Eva tonight. Wound coil awhile & went to bed about 8:30. Paid for a book on electricity a hand book of tables etc.

Made a coil today to light gas on one battery. Got a letter from home. Read and played cards with Will. Went to bed at 9:30. Bob Mason was married Tues to a girl named Gardner.
Friday, November 9, 1906
The day passed very quickly. Pay day also. Did not go to the A.I.E.E. tonight as I did not think a debate on Municipal ownership interesting enough. Got a postal from Eva saying she was glad Hughes was elected. Read and studied all the evening & went to bed at 9:30.
Saturday, November 10, 1906
Worked in the A.M. only. In the P.M. took a bath and worked on a spark coil. Went after milk with Will then we went to the vodevil at the Mohawk. Home & to bed at 12.
Sunday, November 11, 1906
Up at 8. Wrote a letter home and one to Eva. Took a nap. It snowed hard all the P.M. and now there is five inches or so of snow on the ground. Read and visited in the P.M. It was so slushy out that I did not go anywhere. Bed at 9:30.
Monday, November 12, 1906
Awful slushy walking to work this morning and as it rained all day it was muddy coming home. The car line was broken down and so I did not go to night school. Mrs. Hover and I played a while. She plays a guitar. Then I studied and went to bed about 9.
Tuesday, November 13, 1906
Cold this a.m. I had a chance to work overtime so I did and cut night school. Worked until 9. High school beat Cook Academy hot 11-7 they had not been beat yet this year. Got a letter from Bob Mason. He told me about his being married. Bed at 10.
Wednesday, November 14, 1906
Quite a bit of work today. Also quite cold. Got a nice long letter from Eva tonight after supper I practiced on my violin for about an hour. Helped Mrs. Hover bring some apples up from the barn and then read until Will came at 9:30. Bed about 10.
Thursday, November 15, 1906
Nothing special today except this blot. It started snowing about 5 and snow yet at 8. In the evening I shaved, practiced on my violin, read, etc. Bed about 10. I bought a 0-130 volt meter today. A dandy bargain for they cost about $40 new & this one is as good as new it is for AC current but can be used for DC I paid $3.00.

There was a foot of new snow on the ground this a.m. to walk to work in. Today was pay day again. I worked until 9 pm. testing coils in #22. Got my voltmeter. It is all right too & a good bargain. Got a nice letter from Mother. Bed at 10+.

Worked in the A.M. Will & I read etc. all the P.M. In the evening we went out and had a good time. Home at 10:20.
Sunday, November 18, 1906
Read all the A.M. After dinner I went over to Yaiger�s on Paige St. and took my violin. Had a dandy time. Stayed to lunch. Home at 9:30. I wrote to Eva & home and then forgot to mail them. Eva will be disappointed. Bed at 10:30.
Monday, November 19, 1906
The day went quite quickly. In the evening I studied DC & read. Went to bed about 9. It is awful muddy & quite warm. The snow is all gone.
Tuesday, November 20, 1906
Monkeyed with an induction coil. I am making during the spare time I had to day. Went to night school in the evening to the drawing class. Home & Bed at 10. B.C.H.S. beat Syracuse High School. 6-0 Sat.
Wednesday, November 21, 1906
It rained hard nearly all day and was very gloomy. It tried to study a little this A.M. and got a headache which lasted all day. Got a dandy letter from Eva & also one from Mother. Went to bed early.

A lot of work today. Got my pay slip went to bed early.

I asked Mr. Schermerhorn about going home Christmas & he said he was not sure. I hope I can. Got my pay als ----. Went to the A.I.E.E. lecture on hydroelectrics. It was illustrated & was good. Home at 10.

Worked in the morning only in the afternoon I took a bath read etc. Went to bed about 10.
Sunday, November 25, 1906
Stayed home all day. Wrote to Eva & Mother as usual. Read & fooled & loafed around all day. Bed about 9:30. Took a nap from 3-6:15.
Monday, November 26, 1906
Sometime in the night my old ache came back to me & it was the worst yet. I had a Dr. MacDuval & he called it appendicitis & recommended an operation as soon as I was able. Felt better in the P.M. Wrote a letter home for advice.
Tuesday, November 27, 1906
Lame & sore all day. Had to keep quiet. Dr. Came about noon & said I was better & had better start home as soon as possible. Got a letter & milage book from father at 9 p.m. He says come at once. I guess I will go tomorrow night. The Dr. says he will write the G.E. Co & explain matters.
Wednesday, November 28, 1906
Got up at 6 and loafed around all day. Went out and got a hair cut in the P.M. Will can not get my money until Fri. so Mr. Hover is going to advance it. Left Hover�s at 9:30 & caught the 9:45 car to Albany. Got there at 10:30 and bought a sleeper ticket & went to bed at 110 as the car was there. We left Albany at 12:20 one hour late & then I went to sleep.

Woke up at 6 just as we were coming into Binghamton. Got home at 7 all were glad to see me. About 10 I went over to surprise Eva. Mr. Marsh came to the door. Eva knew it was me. I don�t know how I would not see her for a while but sneaked from one room to another. She looks just fine. I am proud to have such a girl. Went up to Prouty�s with the rest of the family is our family to dinner at 2:30. Eva & I went to the football game BCHS beat Utica 12-5 in a fine game. BCHS has tied one game & won 9 out of 10 played a fine record. Went to bed at 8. Very tired.

Up at 8. I went up street to the office & saw everybody. They were surprised to see me. In the evening I went over & got Eva & we went to the senior dance. I could not dance much as it hurt me. About 4 in the P.M. Mother & I went over to a private hospital on Hawley St to see about the operation. I guess I shall have it done there. It is a dandy place & the doctors & nurses are fine. Eva said she hoped I would have it there. It worried her, I guess to think I was to have it done at the city Hospital. Got over to Eva about 1:30. I asked E for a kiss & she gave it to me. She is good. Home at 2.

Did not wake up until 11 A.M. Went up town and sold my voltmeter to Blanding for $10.00 so I made $7 clear. After dinner I went over to Eva�s & took my diary. Eva read it of course. We talked etc. I had a headache and layed down. Went to sleep & slept from 4:30 � six. Had a nice supper. Mrs. Marsh is in Kirkwood. After supper more talk. Just before I came home I got soft I guess and hugged Eva. She was not mad. She would not give me a kiss however. Home at 9. It is colder again tonight. I go to the private hospital Mon. P.M.

Did not go to church today but went over to the Congregational Sunday school. After dinner I went over to see Eva. Ben & Edna came up awhile. I ate some candy & had a little pain in my side. It scared me so I had to come home. Said good bye to Eva because I may never see her again. Home at 8:30. Took a pain pill & went to bed.

Feel better this A.M. Eva phoned & asked how I was. Said she was awfully scared. Went over & saw Prof. Whitney & then down & saw Tom Noyes & Haggerty. About three o�clock Mother & I went over to the hospital. I went to bed. Had to take pills etc. all the rest of the day. Miss Sullivan is my nurse.

This morning at 9 Dr. Bearsdley gave me chloroform & I did not know anymore until 11:30. The operation was all over and I was very sick to my stomach, which pained me very much due to the ether gas. Felt bad all day. Mother & Father came in a minute in the evening. Dr. Kane performed the operation.

Felt bad until noon when the pain caused up. Much better in the P.M. Eva & Mother came in Eva brought me six carnations. They were fine.

Better today. Had some soup for dinner. Mother came in awhile.

Father came about noon & shaved me. In the P.M. Eva Edna & Ben came. Eva stayed until 6:25 I guess she is real good to come so often. Mother comes every day. Gerald does too. Drs. Kane & Beardsley looked at my side. It is healed up great. Miss Sullivan had to go home tonight so Miss McDonald is my nurse now. I hate castor oil which I have to take quite often. Had a chicken dinner. I am to have regular ---- from now on.

Nothing special today. Rob Marsh comes in once in a while to see me. Eva came in too.

Dr. Kane took the stiches out of my side today. The cut is about 3 inches long & is healing fine. Martha Beach came with Mother & brought me 20 Malaga grapes.

Eva came today again. Nothing else special. She brought some little tarts which were fine.
Thursday, December 13, 1906
Floyd Beach came this noon & brought me a book to read �The Man on the Box.� I read it through before night & got a headache for it. Sat up to eat today.
Friday, December 14, 1906
Eva came to see me this P.M. about 5 P.M. I put on a bath robe & stood up awhile then sat in a chair. It made me feel a little groggy. I am weak.
Saturday, December 15, 1906
Felt good today. Had a good dinner. Mother brought my under clothes over this A.M. for I am going home this noon. About one I got dressed & Father & a cab man carried down stairs & then upstairs when I got home. It seems good to get here but I kinda hated to leave t hem over there. Rob Marsh was here about an hour or so. Slept until 4. Bed at 8.

Up at 8 A.M. Read etc. all the A.M. Also shaved about 4 P.M. Eva came to see me & stayed until 6:20. We had a fine visit. It seems almost like a leap year to have her come to see me but as soon as I am able I will go over to see her. We all is our family had supper together.
Monday, December 17, 1906
Read all day. Bert came down about 5 & brought me his violin which I have borrowed awhile. We had a good visit. Mrs. Biles was down in the evening. Went to bed at 10.
Tuesday, December 18, 1906
Read some & played on the violin some. I started a painting this A.M. A fruit piece 10 X 12 or so & got all the sketching & blocking in done. Dr. Kane was here about 6 & after looking at my side said nothing could happen now. I am bothered with a very lame leg. The muscles under my right knee are so sore & cramp so I can hardly walk. Gerald & I read popped corn in the evening. Father & Mother went to a dance. I read until 12 & went to bed later.

As the picture I started yesterday was not dry yet I started another little one and worked on it all the A.M. Went to bed & slept until 3:15 when Eva stopped in about 15 minutes. I wanted her to stay longer but she did not as she was going to pick out a new dress. Read in the evening a while. Haggerty came over & we visited until 9:30. Had a headache since dinner time.

Painted & read all the A.M. Slept until 3 & got up feeling burn. Sat around doing nothing but feeling blue until supper time. Read until 9 & went to bed.
Friday, December 21, 1906
Painted all the A.M. Rob Marsh came in about 2 and stayed until 3:15. Eva came in awhile. I wanted to go to her club meeting but could not. Felt blue & ugly & went to bed at 7:30.
Saturday, December 22, 1906
Painted all the A.M. After dinner went over for the first time. Went over to the hospital a minute but they were busy. Called into Kents & saw Edna. Stopped in M---- & saw Riley Houck. Met Chas. Ford & we went to see Lester Kaley. Stayed to the library until 5. Read in the evening. Bed 10:30.
Sunday, December 23, 1906
Went to church and Sunday school at the Universalist church. Mrs. Marsh & Eva invited me over to dinner so I went. Stayed until 8 P.M. Had one of the most enjoyable afternoons with Eva I can remember. It has only been three weeks since I was over there last. Home at 8:30 & we had supper together Bed 10. My leg is very lame under the knee.
Monday, December 24, 1906
Went up town this A.M. & looked over the telephones. I am going to change around and then drew plans. About 5:30 I went up to the church. Before I went Mother gave me a pair of stockings from Gerald a necktie from herself and a few other things. Had supper at the church & Bob Eva & I went over to her house. The Marshes had their Christmas tree. I gave Eva her mirror. She gave me a dandy silk padded coat hook & a dandy pair of Roman gold cuff links. I said too much about the coat hook & made Eva feel badly. Edna Carl was up also stayed with Rob down to Martha�s.
Tuesday, December 25, 1906
Up at 8 with a headache. After breakfast Rob & I washed dishes then went up & saw Eva. We went down & saw Edna & then Mable Woodruff. Had a fine dinner about 2 p.m. I ate an enormous f---. Eva rubbed my head twice & it felt better for a while. I plagued her a little this P.M. just teased her. We went to the Armory Theatre in the P.M. It was good. After we got over to her house. I cuddled Eva some & teased (& stole) 4 dandy kisses etc. I like Eva better all the time. I could love her if I don�t already. Home & bed at 12:30.
Wednesday, December 26, 1906
Got up about 9 this A.M. Went up to the office and started in the phone job. Bob Mason worked with me all day. Got part of the cables in. Got a hair cut at 4:30. Went over to Eva�s at 7 and we went down on Riverside drive to Hooker�s ball where Eva�s club held a little dance. Had a good time. We missed the car & walked home about 3 miles. Both of us about all in. I stayed and payed my respects to Eva. Coaxed a dandy kiss from her. but I must stop it. The more I get the more I want. She says she don�t like it but she don�t object much. Bed 1:30.
Thursday, December 27, 1906
Did not get up until 11:30. Had a headache all day. Rob Marsh came in about 1:30. Said Eva sent him to see how I was. Mrs. Marsh said if she had heard us last night she would have told me to stayed with Bob I wish she had for I was about all in. Mother & I went to the Armory in the P.M. Read in the evening & my headache stopped. Bed at 9+.
Friday, December 28, 1906
Worked on the phones all the A.M. and on a motor for Rob all the P.M. in Schnell�s gunshop on a lathe. Went over to see Eva. We talked played �500� etc. (especially etc.) until 10+. Bed at 11. Geo Gump came down & we visited. He is in Syracuse University in the Tech. school. Saw almost glad I did not go. Too much work.

Went up to Schnell�s & worked on the motor in the A.M. and on the phones in the P.M. Geo. Gump came down & helped me. Read & went to a small fire in the P.M. after supper. Bed later.
