Most all of the settlers of Indiana came from the border states of Kentucky and Ohio. Others came from unrelated places like New Jersey, New York, and North Carolina. The earliest settler of Indiana in my tree seems to have been in about 1807, but there was a rapid rise after the War of 1812.

Most of the early settlers to Wisconsin came in the 1840's or 1850's and seem to have come by way of the Great Lakes, from New York, or just straight from foreign countries, of which Germany was prominent.

There seems to be no apparent pattern into the settlement of Illinois, as they came from Kentucky, Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Most seem to have come in around the 1830's or 1840's.
