8th Generation:
(Note: it is not proven, only speculation, that Jacob Foust was the son of Christian and Anna Foust above.)
Jacob Foust was born circa 1785 in North Carolina 3,9. He died in 1863 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee 4.
Jacob married first to name unknown circa 1803 in North Carolina. She was born circa 1785 in North Carolina and died circa 1823 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee.Possible Father: John Christian Foust
Possible Mother: Anna Maria WolfJacob was born and raised in North Carolina. As far as I know, there are no sources that connect him to his birth family or any of his relatives. It's only a circumstantial guess that he was the son of John Christian and Anna Maria Foust.
If the above was true, Jacob was probably born and raised in Guilford Co., North Carolina. Jacob was probably married in about 1803, but the name of his wife is unknown. Sometime between 1805 and 1809 they moved out west to Montgomery County, Tennessee; where Jacob remained until his death. Sometime during the 1820s, his first wife died and he remarried to Elizabeth "Bettie" Bristow. Jacob was a blacksmith and a farmer. In 1836, he owned 172 acres. In 1836 he owned one slave and in 1860 he owned 3 slaves. Overall though, it appears that Jacob was relatively poor. He left no estate record and has no surviving tombstone. He definitely died between 1860 and 1870. Some researchers have indicated he died in 1863 (source unknown).
Jacob is said to have had 21 children. The only known source that seems to confirm the relationship of his large family of children was the estate record of his oldest daughter Sarah Thompson, who died in 1879. Over the next few years, Sarah's estate was divided between her heirs: her 12 surviving siblings and the descendants of 4 additional siblings that predeceased her. This seems to prove that the following 17 people were siblings of each other and thus children of Jacob: John, William, Sarah Thompson, Mary Brown, Elijah, George, Elizabeth Turner, Jacob Jr, Jesse, Peter, Thomas, Nancy Heflin, Narcissa Hutchison, Robert, Katherine "Kitty" Smith, Virginia "Jenny" Heflin and Sandy. In addition, census records suggest that General and Cave (who died young), were also his children - bringing the number to 19. Armenta Foust Holt (who also probably died young and without issue), is also inferred to be his daughter; but she could have been a granddaughter or other relative (although the 1840 census suggests she was his daughter). The 1820 census suggests that there may have been an additional unknown son born to the first marriage, bringing the number to 21. It is also possible that there were additional children that died in infancy or childhood and that have been lost to time.
Some researchers have proposed that her name was Patsy Ware Nelson, yet the evidence for or rationale behind that name is unknown. The names that were repeated among her granddaughters, and thus possibilities for her first name, were: Sarah (7 times), Mary (6 times), Elizabeth (4 times), Martha (4 times) and Margaret (3 times). However, since those names were very common, it doesn't help much. Although Patsy is usually a nickname for Martha, so that may give weight to that name. Also, the name Nelson does appear in the names of one grandson (Andrew Nelson Turner) and also her husband's son by his second marriage (Robert Nelson Foust). They had the following children:
Jacob married second to Elizabeth Bristow circa 1826 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee. She was born circa 1805 in Tennessee 3 and died sometime between 1870 and 1880 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee.
1 John Foust was born circa 1804 in North Carolina. He died between 1840-1850 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee. He married Mary Thompson circa 1825 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee. They had the following children:

William moved to Henry County, Tennessee as a young man, where he remained. He was a blacksmith.
3 Sarah "Sallie" Foust was born circa 1805 in North Carolina 3. She died in June 1879 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee. She married Frederick Thompson circa 1823 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee. He was born circa 1805 in North Carolina and died between 1870 and 1878 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee. They had one child (although she may have been Frederick's child from an earlier marriage):
Sarah Thompson (1823-1896)
md. William Lewis JohnsonFrederick wrote his will on December 22, 1868, in which he left $700 to his daughter Sarah Johnson and the residue to his wife Sarah. He directed that after his wife's death, additional funds be given to a servant named Lucy, and to two different churches.
Sarah probably died between June 13 and June 25, 1879. She died without a will, and her brother Jacob Foust Jr. was appointed administrator of her estate on July 2, 1879. Part of her estate included the division of about $500 between her surviving heirs. There were no funds dispersed to Sarah Johnson, which may have been because she was already provided for out of Frederick's estate or because she was not Sarah's daughter.
Her estate was divided between her 12 surviving siblings (Jacob, Sandy, George, Mary, Peter, Nancy, Jesse, Virginia, Robert, Kitty, Narcissa, and Elizabeth) who each received $34. Additional funds were left to descendants of her dead brothers John, William, Thomas and Elijah.

md. M. N. FletcherGeorge Thomas Foust (1887-1959)
md. Luna JoeVarious researchers have proposed that George died in Scott County, Tennessee. Yet that is apparently confusing him with a different George Foust. That George Foust was born circa 1815 in Kentucky, and was from a different family.
George probably moved to Henry County, Tennessee during the early 1840s. There he married Malinda Brown in 1842. Strangely, both he and his brother William apparently married women named Malinda Brown. Although George apaprently spent most of his adulthood in Henry County, Tennessee; he apparently lived briefly with his family in Mississippi and Arkansas during the 1850s and 1860s.
They had the following children:Elizabeth was probably closely related to Joseph W. Bristow (born circa 1812, died 1879 in McCracken County, Kentucky) based on the fact that she and her heirs were involved in a lawsuit regarding his estate. If so, she may have been his sister and thus the daughter of John and Sarah Bristow of Montgomery County, Tennessee.
Elizabeth usually went by the pet name "Bettie" (probably also to differentiate herself from her step-son's wife Elizabeth Morrow Foust who went by "Eliza"). Elizabeth was married to Jacob Foust sometime between 1820 and 1830. Since we do not know exactly when the marriage occurred, it is possible that George and Peter could have been Elizabeth's children.
12 Thomas Foust was born circa 1827 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee 3. He died circa 1859 in Weakley Co., Tennessee. He married Elizabeth B. Hutchinson on September 21, 1850 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee 7. She was born circa 1829 in Tennessee and died after 1886 in Illinois. They had the following children:

md. Amanda Caroline BakerThomas and his wife may have briefly lived in Kentucky (probably Ballard County) during the 1850s. They apparently settled in Weakley County, Tennessee by the late 1850s. Thomas probably died there, sometime before his wife remarried in January 1860.
Although the above three children were definitely children of Thomas and Elizabeth, Silas was not raised by Elizabeth after her remarriage. It is possible that there was an additional son named Finas [Finis] Foust. Finas Foust was a surviving heir of Sarah Foust Thompson who lived out of the state of Tennessee in 1880. His identity is unknown.
13 Nancy Ann Foust was born on August 16, 1829 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee 4. She died on March 17, 1896 in Graves Co., Kentucky 4. She married David Heflin on September 25, 1845 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee 4.They had the following children:

Holt on or shortly after March 13, 1849 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee 7.They had no children.Armenta probably died before 1880 when she was not given funds as a surviving heir of her half-sister Sarah Foust Thompson. And because no funds were left to any of her descendants; she probably had no surviving children. She probably died prior to 1854, when William Holt (probably her husband) was remarried to Elizabeth Easley Marshall. According to some family, she died in Ballard County, Kentucky (where her sister Narcissa lived and also possibly her brother Thomas); but the source of that is unknown.
16 Robert Nelson Foust was born on April 5, 1838 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee 1. He died on March 28, 1917 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee 1. He probably died before 1880 when he was not given funds as a surviving heir of his half-sister Sarah Foust Thompson. Because no marriage record has been located for him, and because no funds were left to any surviving children; General probably died unmarried and without children. Some family trees indicate that General died in Marshall County, Kentucky. That is possible, since at least one of his siblings moved there, but has not been corroborated by any known records.
Some online family trees claim he is the same person as William Morrow Foust (1842-1931). In reality, they were different people. That person was the son of General's half-brother Jacob Foust Jr.
18 Katherine "Kitty" or "LuKitty" Ellen Foust was born in February 1843 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee 3. She died shortly before May 20, 1909 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee.
